Ok, so im working on the drop zone ride that I saw on the flat section, and guessing that you mean the kings island one, It is a geo drop, which is lifted magnetically, and slowed down magnetically.

Now for the lifting, here is what I have that will lift the ring of seats(btw, how many seets do you want per ride, cause it will be hard to fit more than 6 seats.)

ok so I got that and what my question is, as you can see it is made up of 5 parts, the 4 "magnets"(they will act as magnets) and the ring that the magnets are attached to. I have two questions.

First how do I make the 5 parts to the lifter 1 piece, cause I tried making all the vertecies a group, but I could only sellect one object at a time. Also, how can I import "Alex" from sketchup into blender. I looked online for this and couldn't find out how, I dont wanna end up making seats 5x to big or WAY to small.

That post contains an Alex already imported into blender. And another figure called flo, in addition they are both armatured so you can pose them for better fits...

The original Alex, both in .skp and .ase formats...
cool, heres the drop tower, no pick up thing w/seats or the magnets, just the tower, with alex, what do you think about the scale, also I figured out how to make them move as 1 figure, but not how to make them one figure, so I still need help with that.

drop zone w/alex-[Image: droptowerwithalex.jpg]

This will be the setup, the tower, the basket at the top(where repairs are made, on the original drop zone at Kings Island) the magnet that brings the seats up, the cables that are attached to the magnet ring for support, and the ring w/ seats.

A few questions, first, do I need an animation of how it will work, cause im not sure how to animate that stuff

Second how do you make cables in blender, there isnt a figure that seems to fit the bill.

Third how many seats should the ride have

Lastly and I say again, how do I make the polys one object, cause I cant figure it out.

Sorry if im asking a lot of questions but I wanna get this right.
The box at the top doesnt have a top face, so it is open at the top, just like the Drop Zone in real life.
m. Like I said in your slingshot post, if your going to do cables, your best bet is a 3 or 5 sided cylinder.

As to the others, well, for this you will want to Join meshes. Select the two or more meshes you wish to have as one, then Cntl J for Join. Note: the combined mesh will retain the name and attributes of the LAST OBJECT selected before Joining.
cool thanks, im working on the seats right now, and I got the idea, im making a cube and cutting off the top and one of the side faces, where the people will have their legs hanging out. I got the seat part almost done, and im gonna be trying totake the cylander(i butchered that word, but you know what it says) and bend it to be like a safty harness with a lattice, but all it is doing is destorting te actual mesh, instead of bending the mesh, any ideas why.
hit tab and go into edit mode.
well maybe ill work on the slingshot? That is, if that has not been taken already, cause im looking for a ride that has less detail for my first model, and that seems like a good one.

By the way, I did wat star said to do with the edit mode, and it still didn't do anything.

So what I am trying to do is make a bent cylinder but all a lattice does is destoret the mesh, it will not bend it, ive been tryin for like 20 minuts, can somebody tell me how.

I know I am asking a lot of questions, but I have expierence with only sketchup, and I really wanna get this right.
I saw, somewhere.. recently, that a manufacturer, can include 3 sets of four seats, or four sets, five sets or six sets. I wonder if we could include the same options here? I forget what manufacturere was that had the diagrams of the seat configurations. But it looked pretty straight forward.

Wish I had the link. But I don't remember the manufacturer's name.

Found on a catalog, posted on some other forum... Theme Park Review.

Just along the bottom, there are a series of nearly identical drawings of the seat arrangments available for one of those drop towers. Named "INSTANT CAPACITY".
Ok. you need to select the edges you need to bend and "W" "Subdivide" remember that a mesh can only bend where there are verti, those little purple dots...

Also, Blender has a great support group who can help you with some of this:

well, as sebar said, he wants to avoide drop zone, cause turns out it is a vertically tracked ride. But, as for your post, that is a type of "drop zone" however, the one tat I am fimilar with is a tower with a ring of seats, thatone is more like the "power tower" at cedar point. BUt right now im working on the slingshot, and I still cant bend the mesh with the lattice, it is anoying me -.-
well sebar, what would you recomend me working on, I will research the ride, but hopefully it will be an easier one...
thanks sebar! Ill look into those two rides later today...
when I looked up rotor, it was just a cylinder w/ a door, a platform wherer the cylinder sits on, it doesn't even have seats, the people just stand against the wall, so I figure that I can make it so that....well 31 verti cylinder-3 sides for the door....I figure I can have it to fit 29 people, but I am having trouble figuring what kind of detail it should have, considering decoration is hard to do in blender...... and thats just about it, are we finding the same ride....?
nope, your right on target there. I'd not worry too much about decorating the Rotor though... that can mostly be done with smart texturing.
ok so, i kinda whipped this up as a first draft-[Image: rotor1.jpg]

It has the ramp, some rails the actuall ride...a door, and all in scale with alex, oh and the platform.

Ok the problem I have is, to make the rails perfect, i made it an array, just stacked. So I cant join it do the platform or ramp, cause it just takes out the array or puts one in, so that is the only thing so far...um basically, this ride is so basic I dont even really know what else to add.....

Also, just a side note, the text says THE ROTOR, for some reason it didn't show up in the render.
You do know that the floor drops out of the barrel. It drops like six foot or so. So it's basicly a rotating cylinder inside another stationary cylinder. with a floor that spins at the same rate, and simply drops virtically.

There is an obervation deck, it's just a narrow path that leads from the loading & unloading level, up some steps, to a high enough cat walk so people can see into the barrel. This climbs up one side, and down the other. It's basicly a queue, that is self contained on the ride. The queue is located between the outer wall and the barrel and the outer wall of the barrel, within.

So you need to add some space, like 2ft. thick between the barrel and the outer wall.
I know what the ride does, ive been on one....anyway, just make the cylinder thicker and make another ramp to a catwalk so you can see inside the ride? I am sorry if I am missing the point but I have no idea what you are telling me.
