Would it be possible to make an unbrella chair lift car that might look like and umbrella?
I imagine there will be a number of varying chairlifts, but for now we have to get a real and easy to use working stable FRCS. 3 years is fast approaching tpb3d.
I would guess so, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
mate the paratrooper car with V's cable grip once we have the system working and presto....
Actually Star, that is a simple but great comment Wink to the point also.
Alright. That makes sense. I was just trying to think of varaiatons for Voodhin and others to help design.
Well, there isn't an actual Umbrella chair like you find in RCT3- not a real one that I've ever come across- there are a number of covered chairlifts that I think are much nicer looking than an Umbrella, like this classic "State Fair" Sky ride:

There are more designs that I'm looking at, such as this classic curved hanger by Yan:

and this style, too:

and I am also liking this one more and more:

Of course I have plans for modern ski lifts when TPB3D gets into making Ski Resorts, but most of what I'm focusing on are current and past Amusement Park rides (and a lot of small amusement parks buy up old lifts from ski areas, hence looking at old ski area photos for clear designs).

But these are all Fixed Grip chairlifts, ones that will not be using the Von Roll style of grip that detaches at the terminals found in larger amusement parks. There is a Von Roll open air chairlift, with canopy, that is next on my list of Bails for the Skyway (In case you haven't figured it out, I've using "SkyWay" for Von Roll style detachable systems, and "Sky Ride" for those nice old, slow moving fixed grip systems).

Here's the "secret" Von Roll Detachable Chairlift with canopy:

and a couple of other designs that are in the queue to be made:

As you might have guessed, I have spent hours and hours scouring the net for pictures of all kinds of aerial ropeways, and I happen to have over a 1000 reference pictures- the most recient boon led me to re-designing the Von Roll Grip:

and there's a lot more designs I'm thinking about... If anyone wants to make an attempt at modeling these, or just creating the textures, please do; I'm not saying I'll use them as is- unless they're really good, include details and things like the needed LODs- it all depends. It's actually more work to modify someone else's model (especially ones made in Sketchup) than to start from scratch. But hey, I am open to see what others can do: I know a there are a bunch of you around here who can easily make better models than I can Wink
Alright. That makes sense. I was just suggesting stuff.
Awesome my friend. You definitely got this game covered on aerial lifts for us. Yeah that single chair reminds me of the one they used to have at Krakta Ridge ski area north of downtown L.A., though that single chair had no top just an open one. They also had a rope tow, but those were hard for many to stay level. I remember running over the guy Big Grin in front of me on a rope tow. Boy oh boy did he scream some nasties but it was an accident cause he couldn't get out of the way fast enough speechless so I blamed him. Anyhow I was lucky enough to ride this lift in the 80's...

I am glad to see that the community is working together to do this attraction and other varaiatons of the skylift and aerial tram.
Well winter and resort themes will require a large aerial tram and also ski lifts for ski resorts which are a differing, yet still an amusement parks of sorts. So the original and developing themes mandate we have these additional lifts.
Yup that is true!

But for other themes could we make other cars?
Absolutely. A South Seas theme could have ones that look like they are made in the style of Gilligan's Island (bamboo, wicker, and thatched roofs), and one like my DaVinci One could be used in a Medieval theme.
Vodhin we have a theme that would use the DaVinci one.
Renaissance
I like where these theme ideas are going and I say we should have different cars for the theme.
Ok... Ideas for themed... VR= VonRoll Detachable. CL= chair Lift Fixed Grip

Half Whiskey Barrel for Wild West - VR, CL
Space Capsule and/or Lunar Lander for Space - VR
UFO (and my SkyCar?) for Retro Sci-fi- VR
Dino Bones and Wood for Prehistoric - VR, CL
Pumpkin for Halloween/Spooky/Horror - VR
Bones/Ribs for Halloween/Spooky/Horror - CL
Guilded Bird Cage For Victorian/Edwardian - VR
Santa Sleighs for Santa's Village

Other generic styles could be augmented by adding parts to an existing generic chair or gondola:

A Sombrero roof on a round gondola for Mexican
Art Deco trimmings for Art Deco/ Roaring 20's
Sea Shell roof for Atlantis
Round War Shield roof or trimmings for Viking

what else???
Yeah these would all be great and each car counts as an entirely new ride Wink too.... Big Grin

The community park builders will be celebrating all of these :gig:
What about a cannon or palm tree or something like this to represent the Carribean?
