Wink Himalaya V2.0 Finally Wrapped Up Today!!!!
Well before I begin let me just say way before I even knew about this project many months ago I was messing around with sketchup and was creating little things here and there. Now I have always been a fan of theme park rides which lead me to getting RCT3 and learning how to create custom scenery, etc for my own projects. Something that has been sitting on the shelve for a while was my orginal Himalaya project which basically became way to difficult for me to work with almost a year ago. So I was contacted by someone many months ago asking me if I would donate my project and I said yes but never had the chance to work on it till a few days ago. After many months of messing around and learning what to do I finally got to do some work on my Himalaya project but now changed the name to "Jackpot" and you will see why. The following work that you are about to see is from what I redid from the past project to the new updated one... so take a look at what I have come up with. Now once I am done I will be happy to still donate it to this project here and whether the teams uses it or not is up to you. Here is what I did...take a look.
I still have more work to do on this as you can see like add the arm supports for the cars and not sure if I will add the roofing to the ride...we will see.

I want to cut down a few more poly's on the car but I need to find out what the limit is for each ride so i don't go over the poly/face count. here is another view.

if anyone has any idea's or suggestions feel free to leave them and I will check back often. That's all for now I am taking a break from my park projects to work on TPB3D. So enjoy see ya soon!!!

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
Is there a real Jackpot ride, because if not, this would be reclassified as a Fantasy Ride and would have to be moved to that section. Fantasy rides are those that are a Fantasy and not a real ride Wink so if this is going to be the Himalaya, it should be redone as such including real life ride variants. Good luck and let me know if this is a real or fantasy ride.

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
Not a problem I will change it up it may take some time as it took me alittle 20 hours to do this and get it right. so i will do the himalaya instead of "Jackpot" and change it's theme. Which means I may have to change the swinging car function to a wheel version of the car. Let me see if I can find some good construction pics of this ride and I will get back to you soon with an update.

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
Well the problem is that a Himalaya and Flying Bob actually are two very different animals. Right now the Himalaya is needed far more then a Flying Bobs. As for Himalay textures photos make an easy nabbing for textures and ideas too Wink

Now the ride below would be a great Himalaya ride...lotsa eye-candy too Big Grin

Here is a perfect texture...pretty dead on for a ride name too!

Car looking Excellent. I am presuming the safety bar will be submitted as a separae piece for the FRCS ridemakers to nail later on? Looking excellent though. How many polys on the car and the safety bar?

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
yes the lap bars will be seperate from the car that's how i have it set up at the moment. Here are the edges and faces for each item you asked about.

CAR
Edges: 94
Faces: 34

LAP BAR
Edges: 19
Faces: 3

I am gonna try to see if i can cut back alittle more on the car itself before i get any deeper into the project. but we will see....

Nice work on the car!

The pics bring back memories of this ride in New Orleans La (USA) back in the 70s.

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
I like this style of car better. It should be enough polys that the multiplied cars in the FRCS won't be too high. Also for the serpentine floor of the Himalaya, best to use something other than the floor grating used on the Jackpot. Looks bad if car floor and ride floor are matching...a contrasting thing I guess Wink

Himalaya is a tall ride with lots of theming and the wall halfway through it also themed with the Himalaya mountains. The photo might partially make an extra texture or two Wink

Himalaya's New Look :)
Well after spending the whole day today mainly about 8 hours of work here is what I got done.....I will say this is about 60% complete. It's been really hard to find textures to fit this ride....So far I only have textures for the housing of the ride but not the outside and inner panels. Once I figure out the housing structure then I will begin to clean it up and make minor tweaks to get it ready to be sent out to the crew who will animate etc. So here are a few pics of what I went through today...so enjoy!!!

Here is the face cade for one of the inner panels im not sure if i am gonna keep this texture if i can get one better i may change it out. I could use some help with that if someone can lend a hand I will appreciate it.

dont mind some of the textures on the control booth that will change as you will see in the next pic.

as you can see alot has been done in the last 24 hours....still alot to do right now things are looking good so we will see. So that's all for now I will be back soon with more on the Himalaya :)

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
Looks great so far but the hills on the sides are taller as I glance at the photos. Like I mentioned, you can take a photo and lift the graphics from that and then apply the graphics as the decorative texture. Should work pretty well actually. As for the sign the name of the ride, a simple alpha would bode well. Be aware that two Himalayas exist a covered ride which is the standard and finally an open model too without cover or the center wall graphics.

Otherwise this will become a very popular ride with many parks. Once this is done a quick retheme ride in other themes would be great and if you zip the ride up, the other themes can be made as a zipped group for a ride Add-On which though categorized differently, counts as a ride still. Puts you a step closer to the Modelers Exclusive Club in the community... Wink Do I hear "Alpine Bobs" as the next ride Big Grin

here is another view of that same dip look closely :) how the cars flow downward.

Is the disco ball going to be round? White picket fence looks a bit at the wrong angle. Otherwise this is beginning to look great, not that it isn't already.

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
Hey everyone, since this being Memorial Day Weekend I am kinda not doing much as I am spending time with my family and my girl but I did manage to do very little work today here is what I did.....

as for the mirror ball it will not be fully round (360) cuz it will just take up too many poly's so It will be flat alpha to save but you will be able to view the mirror ball front and back...the sides you won't see cuz they happen to fall into place with the hanging wall so it would be no point. Plus I am trying to save as much as I can. I am not sure what the max number of edges and faces that can be used...so right now I am trying to be very careful with that till I can get an exact number for the max to be useable. So if I can get some info on that it would be great....so thanks for the help slick :) but that's all for now I will be back sometime next week with a bigger update hopefully done with model and focus on all textures. See ya soon!!!

RE: Himalaya/Flying Bobs/Jackpot
what about 8 mirror ball flat sides crisscrossing like TORCG3's trees do, at least that would give it some depth I am thinking. Looking great. Can't wait to see the finalized ride. Have a great Memorial day. Will try and do some barbecuing tomorrow before the Nascar racing starts.
